The Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH) has recently opened its doors to the much anticipated Design Annex at 118 James Street North as part of a continued expansion into Hamilton’s art scene with a boutique and event space. The Design Annex features unique products and designs from Canadian artisans, creatively designed home and office accessories and works of art.
The Design Annex is located in the heart of Hamilton’s downtown core at and is making a splash on the ever-evolving street. The Design Annex also features an exhibition and performance space with a focus on contemporary art installations by artists from Hamilton and farther a field. The current exhibition entitled, Grand Drape is a contemporary design and art installation inspired by the architecture of the AGH Design Annex. Grand Drape is on view until September 1, 2012, and is free to the public.
ANNEX Unplugged
Also held in the intimate setting of the Design Annex is ANNEX Unplugged, an innovative series of acoustic world music performances celebrating Hamilton’s diversity and creativity. To see what’s unplugged at the Design Annex, click here.
Nature and Spirit: Emily Carr’s Coastal Landscapes
Over at the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s main gallery on King Street, the AGH introduces their newest major exhibit, Nature and Spirit: Emily Carr’s Coastal Landscapes. The exhibit traces Emily Carr’s evolution as an artist and includes many of the painter’s recognized masterpieces and is on view until October 28, 2012. Studio Summer Sessions at the AGH
If you’re looking for something a little more ‘hands-on’, check out the AGH in the Studio Summer Sessions. Summer is a great time to be creative, and these short classes are designed to fit into even the busiest schedule. Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, these classes offer a great opportunity to try your hand at something new, or further develop your skills.
