This award category applies to a person, event or business established from January 2010 to December 2011 that has created a new, innovative product that will promote and enhance tourism in Hamilton or has demonstrated an innovative approach to surviving the challenges of the tourism industry.

EVENT OR FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR

This award category applies to any event or festival that has played a significant and active role attracting out-of-town visitors to the City of Hamilton. Organizers have demonstrated a concerted effort to promote Hamilton's image in marketing initiatives geared to visitors living beyond Hamilton's boundaries, ie., Niagara, GTA, Buffalo, etc.

TOURISM BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

This award category applies to a business, event or attraction that has exhibited strong growth and/or record of success, shown community involvement, leadership and demonstrated commitment to human resource development and training. It is seen as a strong partner in tourism and achieves high levels of customer satisfaction.

AGRI-TOURISM BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

This award category applies to an agricultural operation that has exhibited strong growth in tourism product and excellent customer service. It is recognized for its community involvement and leadership. Operators have demonstrated a concerted effort to promote Hamilton's image in marketing initiatives geared to attracting visitors to the City of Hamilton.

B&B (BED AND BREAKFAST) OF THE YEAR

This award category applies to a Bed and Breakfast operation that has exhibited strong growth and excellent customer service. It is recognized for its community involvement and leadership. GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB AND/OR COURSE OF THE YEAR

This award category applies to a restaurant, committee or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of culinary tourism in the City of Hamilton.  It is recognized for its community involvement, partnerships and leadership. Owners, committees or organizations have demonstrated a concerted effort to promote Hamilton's image in culinary efforts and initiatives that enhance an experience for a visitor to the City of Hamilton.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM "THE GREEN AWARD"

This award category recognizes tourism businesses, organizations, events or attractions that promote sustainable practices in the carrying out of their day to day activities. Initiatives could include reducing the environmental impact of the business by adopting environmentally sustainable practices.
