Hamilton's local public transit, Hamilton Street Railway Company (HSR) was etablished in 1873 as a horsecar operator.  Since then it has seen many changes in its operations including streetcars, the incline railway, trolley buses and has now operates a transit bus service.  In 2007 the City of Hamilton announced that it will begin adding new hybrid-diesal low emission buses to the HSR fleet.  Hamilton also has taxi and limousine service available for private hire (see below for more information).

Unlimited travel valid all day and may be used for one of the following
• One rider, any age, all day. 
• Two adults and up to four youths/children 19 and under, traveling as a group. There does not have to be any youths/children with the two adults.
• One adult, and up to five youths/children 19 and under, traveling as a group. Again there does not have to be any youths/children with the adult.
• All youths/children - up to six youths/children 19 and under, traveling as a group.
It is currently acceptable for 1 or 2 adults to use the pass without any youths/children as part of the group.
