SUPERCRAWL is back at centre stage this weekend to showcase and celebrate the diversity of Hamilton’s James Street North district, its multi-disciplinary arts community, a unique mix of cultures, businesses and creative people.
The 4th annual SuperCrawl, runs from September 14-15, and has prepared an outstanding line-up of events on 7 live music and performing arts stages with much anticipated performances by Terra Lightfoot, Rah Rah, Wax Mannequin, Change of Heart, Born Ruffians, Said the Whale, Owen Pallett, Great Lake Swimmers, K’naan and many more.
Entertainment throughout the two-day festival is an important opportunity offering a lens into Hamilton’s exuberant and effervescent cultural scene and is sure to spark an appreciation in everyone that attends.
In its 4th year along James Street North, SuperCrawl is expanding to include Friday night which traditionally would be the monthly Art Crawl.
Not only is the length of the festival expanding, but as well the festival area! James North will be completely closed from Barton Street all the way to King Street this year, with the main stage now located just south of King William, adjacent to the Lister Block.
The focus of SuperCrawl focuses on 4 pillars – great live music, local art, dance and civic pride; it’s a celebration of the best of Hamilton in 2012. Great food, small businesses, busking, expression and so much more.
An expected audience of over 75,000 over the 2 days to flock to downtown Hamilton to experience Supercrawl.
On Stage:
Supercrawl features 4 professionally equipped stages featuring upwards of 50 musicians / acts, including K’Naan, Said the Whale, Owen Pallett, Great Lake Swimmers, Terra Lightfoot, Chore, Born Ruffians, Hollerado and many more. Be sure not to miss a special busking stage that will be set up in Gore Park (James & King Street) which will feature many main-stage acts in a more intimate setting.
At 8:15pm, another must see – the Hamilton-based Circus Orange perform a spectacular 3 aerialist act revolving around our huge mobile rig suspended from an industrial crane. The performers are suspended beneath the rig and perform on circus hoops. The act is punctuated by magnificent close proximity and high-elevation pyrotechnics with a full pyro finale. This will be featured at the corner of James St N and York Blvd.
